My name is Alexander (Alex), and I’m the person behind XELA!

XELA was created as a space to put my work out into the world and to grow as an artist. It’s a place where I can share ideas, collaborate, and help others bring their vision to life. I want my work to feel joyful, expressive, and full of colour something that can brighten people’s lives, even in small ways.

The name XELA comes from my own name spelled backwards, Alex, and also draws from the Maltese word “xelghha” (spelt differently), which means to light up. That idea sits at the heart of everything I do creating work that brings light, energy and positivity into the world.

I’ve been studying art for many years now. It all started with Fine Arts at the School of Art for over 8 years, where I explored a wide range of traditional mediums such as Lino Printing, Acrylic and Oil Painting, Sculpture, Mixed Media and many more. During this time, I obtained my O-Level (MQF Level 3) and A-Level (MQF Level 4) in Art. I later continued my academic journey at the University of Malta, where I am currently studying Digital Arts.

Along the way, I’ve enjoyed pushing myself outside my comfort zone, from graphic design and photography to video editing, and more recently, exploring the art of tattooing. Each step has helped shape how I think, create, and approach visual storytelling.
